Paediatric Orthopaedics

Paediatric Orthopaedics

Our Paediatric Orthopaedic Department is dedicated entirely to the care of children, providing specialized treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. We work closely with the Department of Paediatrics to ensure that every child receives care tailored to their developmental needs, combining medical expertise with a child-friendly approach.

We manage a comprehensive spectrum of paediatric orthopaedic conditions, from simple fractures to complex congenital deformities. Our team focuses on both preventive and corrective care to ensure proper growth, development, and long-term joint health for every patient.

Recognized as one of the leading paediatric orthopaedic centers in Bangalore, our department emphasizes a holistic approach that addresses physical, emotional, and developmental aspects of care.

Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeries

We offer advanced surgical interventions to correct deformities, restore function, and improve quality of life for children with orthopaedic conditions. Key procedures include:

  • Scoliosis Correction Surgery: Surgical treatment to straighten abnormal spinal curvature and prevent progression.
  • Hip and Foot Reconstruction: Corrective procedures for congenital or developmental deformities of the hip and foot.
  • Tendon Transfer and Muscle Reconstruction: Restores movement in children with neuromuscular conditions.
  • Cerebral Palsy Surgery: Procedures to improve mobility and reduce deformities in children with cerebral palsy.
  • Skeletal Trauma Management: Expert surgical care for complex fractures and injuries.

Common Paediatric Orthopaedic Conditions

Our team treats a wide range of conditions affecting children, including:

  • Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH): Abnormal development of the hip joint leading to instability.
  • Clubfoot: A congenital deformity causing inward turning of the foot.
  • Paediatric Fractures: Management of simple and complex fractures in growing children.
  • Scoliosis: Abnormal spinal curvature requiring monitoring or surgical correction.
  • Congenital Limb Deformities: Includes hand, foot, or leg abnormalities present at birth.
  • Cerebral Palsy: Orthopaedic interventions to improve mobility, alignment, and muscle function.

Our approach combines early diagnosis, non-surgical management, and advanced surgical techniques to optimize outcomes and support children in leading active lives.

Orthopaedic Bone Cancer Services

Our bone cancer program integrates multiple specialties to provide individualized care for children and adults. The multidisciplinary team, known as the Tumour Board, includes orthopaedic surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, musculoskeletal pathologists, physiotherapists, and pain management specialists.

This collaborative approach ensures that every patient receives a treatment plan that is tailored to their condition, balancing tumor removal with preservation of function and limb salvage whenever possible. Advanced imaging, surgical planning, and post-operative therapies minimize complications and improve long-term quality of life.

Bone Cancer Surgeries

  • Limb Salvage Surgery: Removing tumors while preserving as much of the limb as possible.
  • Megaprosthesis: Replacement of large bone segments with custom prosthetic implants.
  • Expandable Megaprosthesis for Children: Allows growth after surgery, ensuring better long-term outcomes.
  • Rotationplasty: Innovative procedure to restore function in cases of extensive bone tumors.
  • Spinal Decompression and Instrumentation: Surgery for tumors affecting the spine.
  • Sacrectomy: Surgical removal of tumors in the sacral region.
  • Angioembolisation: Minimally invasive procedure to control tumor blood supply before surgery.

Bone Cancer Conditions

Our specialized team treats a variety of bone and soft tissue cancers, including:

  • Osteosarcoma
  • Ewing’s Sarcoma
  • Chondrosarcoma
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Soft Tissue Sarcoma
